Here is an opportunity to stretch the playful and brave YOU.
Songs of your choice will be our vehicle for rediscovering theatre improvisation. We’ll be like sculptors employing breath, energy, movement, imagery and sound. The techniques employed in these sessions will foster intimacy with our individual capacity to create. We will experience the sensations of staccato, legato, moulding, floating, flying and radiating. The goal is to open doors to a range of dynamic experiences whilst we employ lyric and tune. We will surprise ourselves and ultimately surpass ourselves but we can only begin with ourselves. The techniques will be supported with vocal preparation.
Please bring three songs that you know and love. It’s likely that you’ll choose a song from a musical or nursery rhyme. It’s best to choose simple tunes that are within your vocal range. Here is a list of musicals you may be choosing from:
Into the Woods, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Annie Get Your Gun, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Funny Girl, Hello Dolly, Mary Poppins, Chicago, A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors…. You will be required to have your song choices on hand at the time of registration.
Note: Sally studied voice with David Harris (Linklater technique), Richard Armstrong workshops; Sarah Kane workshops; and the sounding of Continuum Movement is a part of her daily practice.
